Why an exchange programme?
EFPT has long had a strong desire to create an opportunity for psychiatric trainees to go on exchange. EFPT acknowledges the impact of growing mobility of doctors and patients across Europe and has therefore set up a working group whose aim is to promote knowledge and support trainees in going across borders.EFPT wishes to encourage and promote an intercultural professional exchange and cooperation among psychiatric trainees across Europe, with a focus on individual experience.
Requirements:
The applicant can be a psychiatric trainee of any year.
The applicant should be fluent in English.
Some knowledge of the local language is helpful but may not be compulsory. The host institution cannot guarantee translation. The applicant has to make sure this is taken into consideration when making arrangements with the local coordinator.
Is there an application fee?
There is no application fee or payment for application to EFPT Exchange Programme.
Financial aid available for trainees from Netherlands***:
Unfortunately the EFPT cannot provide any funds or bursaries for the exchange stay at the this stage. Expenses regarding transport, accommodation, food, visa, insurance etc. must be covered entirely by the applicant. There might be local funds you can apply for.
We strive to be able to accommodate applicants in student or hospital premises at as low costs as possible. You will have the opportunity to be hosted by another trainee where possible.
***NEWS FROM 2013 June:
We can offer financial support to trainees from The Netherlands.

What does the programme contain?

The programme may contain visits to geographically different institutions.EFPT also wishes to encourage a variety of social and cultural activities in the host country.
What is expected to succeed?
The applicant will have to prepare a presentation to be performed upon arrival at the host institution. It should contain information on the participant’s country, the education and institution and areas of best practise. This is a way to share knowledge.
When the applicant returns, he/she is expected to upload a final report on EFPT’s webpage and fill a feedback form. The applicant is strongly encouraged to present this at his/her home institution. Once the
